Kayla Walker is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. She has completed two summer study abroad trips to Athens, Greece and Stellenbosch, South Africa with the Levine Scholars Program. Kayla focuses her civic engagement efforts towards promoting women’s health in low income communities within Charlotte. She completed a non-profit internship at the Mecklenburg County Health Department and regularly volunteers at the South Charlotte VA Clinic and Ronald McDonald House. Kayla has immersed herself in research presenting at the 2022 State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research & Creativity Symposium and the 2023 National Conference on Undergraduate Research. Kayla was also named a 2023-24 Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact after her nomination from Chancellor Sharon L. Gaber.
