Gracie is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal justice and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Post-graduation, she hopes to attend law school with a current focus on pursuing criminal defense or divorce law. Throughout her time at UNC Charlotte, she has volunteered with nonprofits in the Charlotte area focusing on issues of food insecurity and safe and affordable housing. She has worked with the food pantry on campus as well as Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity and The Bulb. Their focus is to help provide locally grown produce and other grocery items as well as health and wellness education to food-insecure neighborhoods. This experience has inspired her to work with other Levine Scholars of her cohort towards implementing a civic engagement project serving the UNC Charlotte community by providing free produce and grocery items through pop-up markets on campus. Gracie is currently spending her sophomore year summer interning with The Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy. In this internship, she will have hands-on legal experience and continue to advocate for and build upon her passion for serving marginalized and underprivileged populations. She is excited to aid in their mission of making legal aid and legal services accessible to all regardless of age, socioeconomic status, ethnicity, or any other barriers to entry. Next semester Gracie will be conducting an independent research study, working in a leadership position as a reviewer for the Undergraduate Research Journal, implementing the civic engagement project, and working as a Guardian Ad Litem advocating on behalf of children appointed by the North Carolina Courts. Gracie is involved with many groups on campus including the Levine mentorship program, Pre-Law society, Mock Trial, and Niner Guides giving tours of campus to prospective students and their parents.
